Secondary Philosophy

The Association is committed to supporting program development and developing professional learning opportunities for teachers of Stage 4, 5, and 6 Philosophy, especially those new to teaching the DET Stage 5 Philosophy elective linked here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/department-approved-courses/philosophy

Since 2023 we have worked with the Centre for Critical Thinking and Ethics at Newington College to organise workshops under the banner ENGAGING QUESTIONS:  Teaching Secondary Philosophy

Led by experienced classroom practitioners, these practical workshops are for anyone teaching, or interested in teaching, Philosophy in a secondary school setting. Whether you are teaching elective courses for Stage 5 or 6 or providing academic extension outside the standard curriculum, these workshops will provide accessible introductions to the key areas of Philosophy, as well as classroom activities and resources.

The 2025 workshop will be held 27 March with focus on Thought Experiments. See: https://events.humanitix.com/engaging-questions-2025-thought-experiments
